課程概述

This 2-credit required course for LIS undergraduate students introduces you to the theories and practices of reference and information services, a core function of libraries & information institutions. 

課程目標
 By attending the class you will:
1.Understand the theories and principles underlying current R&I services.
2.Gain the basic skills for providing R&I services in libraries or in other types of information institutions.
3.Develop abilities in planning, managing, and promoting R&I services.
4.Understand the major issues and professional concerns in current R&I services and the trends of future development. 
課程要求
 This class will be taught mainly in a library context although the principles and trainings may be useful for other types of information services institutions. For non-LIS students interested in this class, a basic level of knowledge in library science is desired (but not required).

However, hard work is required for successful completion of this course. It will include passing of exams and quizzes, reading reports, and active participation in class activities. Specific requirements will be announced in the first class meeting.
